A Day Outdoors and Connecting with WorldConnect

Yesterday we - son, grandkids, and I - went to the country to plant grape root stock in a vineyard.  It was a Chilly (44 degrees) day, wet, the light wind was out of the North, and we drove an hour and a half to get there.  There was Cyril, Oklahoma, home of Forbidden Fruits Farm and Vineyard.  The owners had scheduled a volunteer planting day and had quite a few accept the offer to get out-of-doors for the Fresh Air, Exercise, and Wonderful Lunch that was provided.  Each trench was 450 feet long.  I can’t remember if  there were 8 of them or 10, but we planted 650 plants - Syrah or Cabernet in some rows - I never did hear what the last two were. We had a very satisfying day.  There have been few days in my life when hard work was so gratifying as yesterday’s was.

Since I’m not travelling again this year, I’m going to stick to the genealogy reports and start posting some of the research I’ve done over the years with my family lines.  Some work is old, some new, and some a combination of both - such as -

Some weeks ago, I received e-mail from Steve Larson.  He had access to a family photo album and had made copies of the photographs and posted them online.  One pair of photographs noted that they were of Aunt Betty and Uncle David Farnsworth.

On my WorldConnect file, he discovered David and Betty Farnsworth and wondered about their relationship to his family.  Steve’s ancestor was Louisa Williams who married Joseph Boileau.

It took a few days of looking to get all the loose ends in place.  I let Steve know that his Louisa was the daughter of Elizabeth Brewer Farnsworth’s sister, Barbara (Barbary) Brewer, who married William Williams.

Steve and I are both descendants of Jacob Brewer and Delilah Zane, by way of two of their daughters.  He and I are fourth cousins, twice removed, according to my computer.  What’s odd, to me, is that Jacob is Steve’s 3rd great grandfather, but Jacob is my 5th great grandfather.  Checking child lists, Steve’s line is at the younger end of a list of children in each generation, and my line is at the beginning, thus older, of the line of children.

Jacob’s granddaughter Charlotte (my line) and Jacob’s granddaughter Louisa (Steve’s line) are 19 years apart - mine older, his younger.  The next generation: Juliet (mine) and Frank (Steve’s) are 39 years apart.  Same relationship - great grandchildren - but 40 years difference in the two children.
